Having a pet dragon is so much fun!

He can sit, roll over, and play…

He can candle a birthday cake, lit a campfire, or so many other cool things…

But what if your dragon experienced a traumatic event?

What if he’s constantly having bad dreams about the terrible thing he experienced?

What if he wasn’t able to rest well, and telling you his tummy hurts?

What if he tried to run away but couldn’t escape from his thoughts of the awful thing that happened?

What if he didn’t want to share with you or to talk about the terrible thing he saw?

What if his broken heart can’t seem to heal, and you’re really concerned?

What should you do?

You help him talk about and understand the experience.

You give him practical advice and activities to overcome his fear.

You help him understand his feelings and you teach him that life goes on, and most of it is good, and so much, much more…

But How?

Get this book and learn how!

Imparts needed coping skills

Great resource that helps children learn skills to cope with trauma. Helpful for all to read. Fun illustrations that help reader keep turning the pages.

Great book, but the dragon *witnessed* a trauma, not experienced one

This is really well done and worded appropriately for small children. However, the dragon in the story merely witnessed something upsetting/traumatic, he didn't experience a trauma. So if you're looking for a book for kids who have had bad things happen *to* them (not just saw something awful), keep looking. But if you're wanting something for kids who witnessed something traumatic, this is perfect for that.

Used for our foster kiddoes

Like this book series. Very helpful in opening up conversation with our foster littles. Our FS5 asks for these books at bedtime over other ones.

Very specific to a traumatic event

I gave it 4 stars because we love the series but this one missed the mark just a little bit. The traumatic event we experienced was their dad walking out on us. This is more for physical trauma I think. Still appropriate and helpful for a 4 and 6 year old.
